MCNA's has updated our Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) and they are are now available for your office. Our approved CPGs can be downloaded from the Support and Downloads page in the Provider Portal and from MCNA's website under Guides and Tools.

The American Dental Association (ADA) has released the 2026 version of the Current Dental Terminology (CDT) dental procedure code manual. Please read our provider bulletin for the full list of the dental services benefit changes that have been made to support updates applicable to the Utah Medicaid dental program.

Effective January 1, 2026, the Salzmann Evaluation Index will be replaced by the Utah Medicaid Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN) to determine medical necessity for orthodontic treatment. Please read our provider bulletin, which includes specific guidance on when to use the new IOTN form, as well as other important information about this change. For your convenience, you will fine the new IOTN form and instructions attached to MCNA's bulletin.

MCNA has added the American Dental Association Guide to Claims Submission: Scaling and Root Planing to the provider resources listed under the News and Resources section of our website. This helpful tool provides guidance to your team and detailed instructions for accurate claim documentation, including:

• How to record attachment loss

• Common reasons for claim denials

• Guiding values for treating dentists

• Examples of good and poor radiographs

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) has released an important notice about a fraud scheme with the potential for large losses. In the scheme identified by OIG, fraudsters diverted Federal and State payments intended for providers participating in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Please access the full Fraud Survey Report on OIG's website to learn more.
